LAKE AGNES is 137 acres, 1.7 miles of shoreland. LAKE ANDREW is just 4 miles south of Alexandria. Its shoreline is comprised mainly of hardwood forests and both wooded and open pasture.The maximum depth of this lake is 83 feet, with a total area of 946acres. Walleyes and northern pike are the best species to fish for, but largemouth bass and panfish are also present. LAKE BLACKWELL is located 11 miles west of Alexandria and 1/2 mile west of Holmes City. It is surrounded almost entirely by dense hardwood forests which create a very secluded atmosphere. Blackwell's area is approximately 307 acres with a maximum depth of 42 feet. It is a good family fishing lake for bass, northern pike and panfish. LAKE BROPHY is located just 2 1/2 miles west of Alexandria and is surrounded by hardwood stands and fields on rolling hills. The area of this lake is 347 acres with a maximum depth of 44 feet. The best species to fish for in Lake Brophy are northern pike and largemouth bass. LAKE BURGEN is 2 miles southeast of Alexandria and its shore cover is primarily mixed hardwood. This lake covers 184 acres and has a maximum depth of 43 feet. Lake Burgen is best known for its bass and panfishing. LAKE CARLOS is located 5 miles north of Alexandria and is one of the main lakes on Alexandria's beautiful "chain of lakes". This large lake covers 2,520 acres with a maximum depth of 163 feet. The shoreline consists of rolling glacial hills covered with mixed hardwoods. Carlos is a very popular walleye fishing lake. LAKE CHIPPEWA is 10 miles northwest of Alexandria and 2 miles northeast of Brandon. Chippewa's area is 1,186 acres and the maximum depth is 95 feet. The shoreline is mainly mixed hardwoods interspersed with cropland and pasture. Lake Chippewa's walleye population is seven times the state average. LITTLE CHIPPEWA LAKE is 15 miles northwest of Alexandria and 3 miles north of Brandon. The shoreline cover consists of hardwood with pastured grassland. Little Chippewa is 209 acres in area and has a maximum depth of 24 feet. Best species to fish for are crappies, walleyes, and northern pike. LAKE COWDRY is just 2 miles west of Alexandria. Its shoreline is rolling and wooded. Cowdry covers and area of 238 acres with a maximum depth of 51 feet. It is a good bass and panfish lake. CROOKED LAKE is 12 miles west of Alexandria and 2 1/2 miles southeast of Holmes City. Its shores are surrounded by dense hardwood forests. Crooked Lake is 152 acres in size and the maximum depth is 35 feet. It is a good family fishing lake with many northern pike in the 4-6 pound class. LAKE DARLING is a 954 acre lake on the northern edge of Alexandria. It is a very sandy lake with a maximum depth of 62 feet. Darling is also one of the main "chain" lakes. The best species to fish for are walleyes and largemouth bass. DEVILS LAKE is located 15 miles northwest of Alexandria and 2 miles north of Brandon. The terrain bordering this lake is gently rolling hills with mixed hardwoods and some grasslands. The area of Devils Lake is 221 acres and the maximum depth is 35 feet. Devils Lake has good fishing both for walleyes and panfish. LAKE FREEBORN is 14 miles west of Alexandria and 2 1/2 miles north of Farwell. Freeborn has an area of 241 acres and a maximum depth of 18 feet. The best species to fish for in this lake are walleyes and northern pike. LAKE GENEVA is a 630 acre "chain" lake on the eastern edge of Alexandria. Sixty-five per cent of its shoreline is surrounded by steep wooded slopes. Lake Geneva is well known for its bass and crappie fishing. LAKE HENRY is 159 acres, 2 miles of shoreland, maximum depth 32' and average depth 13.5'. LAKE IDA is located 6 miles northwest of Alexandria. Ida's area is 4,464 acres and its maximum depth is 104 feet. Ninety-five per cent of its shoreline is wooded. Walleye and northern pike are the main species in this lake. INDIAN LAKE is a small secluded lake 13 miles north of Alexandria, covering 76 acres with a maximum depth of 37 feet. Dense forest surrounds most of the lake. Indian lake offers bass and panfishing and has also been stocked with muskies for the trophy fisherman. LAKE IRENE is 13 miles north of Alexandria. The shoreline consists of 60 per cent gradual wooded slopes and 30 per cent steep wooded slopes. Irene is 630 acres in size with a maximum depth of 43 feet. The best species to fish for are walleyes and northern pike. LAKE JESSIE is located 4 miles southeast of Alexandria. The shoreline consists of mixed hardwoods and pasture on rolling hills. The lake covers 105 acres and has a maximum depth of 26 feet. Jessie is a good panfish, bass, and northern pike lake and has access to the chain of lakes through Lake Victoria. LAKE LATOKA is located 2 miles west of Alexandria and is surrounded by hardwood fringe on rolling glacial till. It has a maximum depth of 108 feet and covers an area of 776 acres. Latoka is a good fishing lake for panfish, bass and walleyes. LAKE LE HOMME DIEU covers an area of 1,744 acres near the northern edge of Alexandria and has a maximum depth of 85 feet. Ninety per cent of the lake's wooded shoreline is developed with homes or cabins. Le Homme Dieu connects with lakes Carlos and Geneva on the chain of lakes. Walleyes and northern pike are the best species to fish for. LOBSTER LAKE is located 6 miles west of Alexandria. Its winding shoreline is surrounded by dense forests. The area of the lake is 1308 acres and the maximum depth is 65 feet. Lobster Lake contains good populations of northern pike, bass and crappies. In addition, the lake was stocked with muskies in 1968 and trophy size fish have been reported. LAKE LOUISE is located 4 miles west of Alexandria. The terrain surrounding the lake is rolling and sandy. Louise is 219 acres in area and its maximum depth is 33 feet. This is another good family fishing lake with panfish and bass being the main species caught. MAPLE LAKE is located 8 miles south of Alexandria. Its shores are 50 per cent wooded and 50 per cent agricultural land. There are both homes and cottages on this lake. Maple is 835 acres in size and the maximum depth is 72 feet. Walleyes and northern pike are the best species to fish for. LAKE MARY is located 5 miles southwest of Alexandria. Most of the lake's shoreline is gradually sloping developed woodland with both homes and cottages present. Lake Mary has a total area of 2,371 acres and a maximum depth of 40 feet. There are good populations of both walleyes and panfish in the lake. MILL LAKE is located 8 miles west of Alexandria and just north of Holmes City. The shoreline consists of mixed hardwood fringe, pasture and cropland with varying elevation. Mill Lake is 600 acres in size and the maximum depth is 40 feet. The lake has good populations of walleyes and panfish and several trophy size fish have been reported. LAKE MILTONA is approximately 10 miles north of Alexandria. The shoreline consists of hardwoods on gently rolling sand hills. It is Douglas County's largest lake with an area of 5,838 acres and a maximum depth of 105 feet. Lake Miltona is well known for its excellent walleye and northern pike fishing. LAKE MINA is located 5 miles west of Alexandria. Its shoreline consists of hardwood forest, pasture and cropland. Mina is 325 acres in area and the maximum depth is 123 feet. The best species to fish for are panfish, bass and muskie. LAKE MINNEWASKA is 16 miles south of Alexandria and forms the south border of the city of Glenwood. It covers an area of 7,110 acres and has a maximum depth of 32 feet. The best species to fish for in Lake Minnewaska are walleyes, panfish and bass. MOON LAKE is located 11 miles west of Alexandria and 1 mile east of Brandon. It is surrounded by dense forest which creates a very secluded atmosphere. Moon Lake has a maximum depth of 28 feet and a total area of 127 acres. The best species to fish for are bass and panfish. LAKE MOSES is approximately 20 miles northwest of Alexandria. The shoreline cover consists of a hardwood fringe with grasslands on gentle slopes. The area of the lake is 822 acres and the maximum depth is 32 feet. Panfish and bass are the best species to fish for. OSCAR LAKE is located 10 miles west of Alexandria and 3 miles west of Holmes City. The shoreline is relatively level with mixed hardwoods on sand soil. The area of the lake is 630 acres and the maximum depth is 20 feet. Oscar Lake has good fishing for northern pike and walleyes. POCKET LAKE is located 10 miles south of Alexandria. The shoreline consists mostly of hardwood forests and wooded pasture with varying elevations. This lake is 275 acres in size and has a maximum depth of 40 feet. Pocket Lake is a good fishing lake, particularly for panfish and bass. RED ROCK LAKE is located 19 miles west of Alexandria. The shoreline consists of hardwood fringe on crop and pastureland. The area of Red Rock Lake is 708 acres and the maximum depth is 18 feet. The best fishing on Red Rock is for walleyes and northern pike. LAKE RENO is located 8 miles south of Alexandria. The shoreline cover consists of hardwood stands, farmland and pasture. The area of the lake is 2,611 acres and the maximum depth is 23 feet. Lake Reno is well known for its excellent walleye fishing. SMITH LAKE is located 6 miles east of Alexandria. The shoreline consists mostly of woods on gentle slopes. The area of the lake is 575 acres and the maximum depth is 30 feet. The best species to fish for are panfish and bass. LAKE VICTORIA is located on the east edge of Alexandria. The shoreline consists of hills and many trees. The area of the lake is 419 acres and the maximum depth is 60 feet. The most popular fish species to fish for are northern, walleye, large mouth bass, and panfish.
